Enzyme based Biosensors

Gwent Group has a unique position to offer a ‘1 stop shop’ for the development and production of Electrochemical Sensors and Biosensors. A description of our capabilities is presented in the Biosensor Brochure.

Below are some of our standard biosensor products are: 

Ammonia Sensor AE2071122D6: A biosensor suitable for electrochemical measurements of ammonia in aqueous solution.  The combination of Glutamate Dehydrogenase and NADH drop coated onto the sensor gives a response to ammonia in water solutions in the range 1 to 10ppm.  Ammonia measurement in sewage water is the typical test done using this type of biosensor.  N.B. Product is not available at the moment. It is undergoing further development work. We do apologise for the inconvenience.

Pyruvate Sensor: A biosensor suitable for electrochemical measurements of pyruvate in onion samples.  The combination of Lactate Dehydrogenase and NADH drop coated on to the sensor gives a response to pyruvate in onion solutions in the range 1 to 10mM.  A pyruvate measurement for onion pungency is the typical test done using this biosensor.

Cholesterol Sensor AE2140110D2: A biosensor ideal for electrochemical measurements of cholesterol. These electrodes are coated with Cholesterol Esterase, Cholesterol Oxidase, Horseradish Peroxidase and an electrochemical mediator to measure cholesterol concentration in serum samples diluted in buffer containing 0.1% triton X-100. The biosensors can be used for measuring concentrations in the range 0 to 0.05 mM cholesterol.

Glucose Sensor AE2140725D2: A biosensor ideal for electrochemical measurements of glucose in food samples. The biosensor uses Glucose Oxidase and an electrochemical mediator to measure glucose concentration in aqueous solutions. The biosensor can be used for measuring concentrations in the range 1 to 30 mM glucose.

Lactate Biosensor AE2131129D2: A biosensor electrode ideal for electrochemical measurements of lactate in aqueous samples. These electrodes are biosensors coated with Lactate Oxidase and peroxidase that are fully soluble upon immersion in the test solution and will give a response to lactate in aqueous solutions. The biosensor can be used for measuring concentrations between 0.04-0.5mM.

These sensors can be supplied in batches of several hundred.
