Sun Chemical offers Gwent biosensors for the measurement of glucose and sucrose (low sugar concentration in potatoes).
BIO-GLU-A1 - Low Level Potato Glucose Biosensors. The sensors have a range of 0.025mM to 0.600mM. Higher concentrations can be measured using a dilution step (software adjusts the end value according to the dilution factor).
BIO-SUC-A1 - Low Level Potato Sucrose Biosensors. The sensors have a range of 0.025mM to 0.600mM. Higher concentrations can be measured using a dilution step (software adjusts the end value according to the dilution factor).

Sun Chemical and the DIC Corporation Acquire Gwent Electronic Materials Ltd.
The shareholdings of Gwent Electronic Materials Ltd, Applied Enzyme Technology Ltd, Gwent Sensors, Gwent Biotechnology Systems Ltd, and LRH Ltd. have been acquired by Sun Chemical and its parent company, the DIC Corporation.
Our group considers this an exciting opportunity to expand and offer our range of products globally. The synergistic effect of working with a company which is already heavily involved in the electronic materials market will be mutually beneficial as access to Sun Chemical and DIC's range of basic raw materials, dedicated facilities, and larger scale manufacturing plants, will enable Gwent to expand rapidly. Additionally, development of new products will be much faster than is currently possible while utilising only our own resources.
The current directors will continue to work for the companies so that all advantages of being part of a larger group can be realised. The facility in South Wales will continue to operate as it currently does. To this effect, we have a long-term lease upon the development and manufacturing site that we currently operate from.
We emphasise there will be no change in the points of contact for any of our customers and distributors; all will continue as at present. Product will continue to be supplied from our Pontypool factory under our quality systems for medical products of ISO 13485 and for automotive products of ISO 16949.

Alcohol Dehydrogenase : Optimum working temperature 65C used for the detection of primary alcohols/ biosensor applications.
Pyrrolindine carboxyl peptidase (PCP): Optimal working temperature 50C used for the hydrolysis of N-terminal pyroglutamate residues from peptides and proteins.
Bromoperoxidase: Optimal working temperature greater than 60C.Used for the bromination of hydrocarbons and used as a direct replacement for the detection of H2O2 by horseradish peroxidase in diagnostic kits. Also used as an anti-bactericidal reaction system. Highly stable in organic solvents.
Fructose-1,6-Bisphosphate Aldolase, Type II: Optimal operating temperature 60C. Used in chiral chemical applications for the formation of carbon carbon bonds.
We have now available new pastes that can be printed using continuous roll to roll processes, these pastes after printing are electricaly conductive and can also be electrochemically active.
